Lend Lease appoints new Global Head of Sustainability
Lend Lease Corporation has appointed Ms Maria Atkinson as its next Global Head of Sustainability starting in February 2006.

Ms Atkinson, a former Bovis Lend Lease executive, is now Executive Director of the Green Building Council of Australia. She will replace Mr Dan Labbad, who has accepted an international posting with Lend Lease. Mr Labbad set up Lend Lease's global sustainability operations and drove the Group’s first sustainability report, which is due for release early next year.

Ms Atkinson will also assume Mr Labbad’s responsibilities for Lend Lease’s Incident & Injury Free program in the Group’s global Retail & Communities business.

“I am delighted to have Maria rejoin Lend Lease. She has extensive experience in the sustainability space and will be crucial to the Group as we broaden our sustainability strategy to all parts of our global operations,” said Mr Ross Taylor, Lend Lease’s Chief Executive Officer – Retail & Communities.

Before the Green Building Council of Australia, Ms Atkinson spent five years with Bovis Lend Lease, during which time she successfully encouraged projects such as the Sydney Olympic Village to take a leadership role in developing and applying new approaches. She has worked closely with many international and local agencies to share knowledge and has regularly presented at conferences and lectured on sustainable development.

The Green Building Council of Australia is a national not-for-profit industry association which promotes sustainable development and the transition of the property industry to implementing green building programs, technologies, design practice and operations.
